Sony Handycam HDR-CX550V is a premium high-definition flash video camcorder. This unit uses 64GB embedded flash memory to store videos and still images. The Handycam can also use removable flash media. This system has a hybrid recording system. The HDR-CX550V records 19020 x 1080 Full HD. It takes 12 megapixel high resolution pictures. All these are stored on a 64GB embedded flash media, which is among the largest of storage capacities that Sony offers among its line of flash camcorders. This is appropriate because high-definition videos and high resolution pictures are large in nature and so require lots of space. Flash camcorders, such as the HDR-CX550V offer users a different type of video recording option to traditional hard drive based camcorders. While flash based camcorders have smaller storage capacities, they are cheaper and more durable in design. There are no moving parts in flash based camcorders and there is faster recording and access to media. Sony CX550V has a built-in GPS receiver. The receiver uses NAVTEQ maps and provides users with geo-tagging functionality. Users of the HDR-CX550V camcorders can view their locations and tag videos and pictures through the touch screen LCD display. Smooth recording is facilitated with Sony's Optical SteadyShot image stabilization feature. Reduce camera shake and enjoy smooth video recording playbacks. An innovative 3-Way Shake-Cancellation technology adds electronic roll stability for an even smoother video capture. Shooting in low light settings is possible with this Handycam's back-illuminated "Exmor R" CMOS sensor.
