Sony Handycam HDR-HC9 is a high-definition camcorder. It uses MiniDV cassettes to record videos and still images. The camcorder also has a media slot that accepts Memory Stick PRO Duo media which allows users to expand storage option.

HDR-HC9 has a 3.2-megapixel ClearVid CMOS sensor and has 6.1-megapixel still image capture ability.

This Handycam has a 2.7 inch touch screen panel LCD display. The display has a 211k pixel resolution and be rotated up to degrees for multiple viewing angles.
