Sony Handycam HDR-XR150 is an entry-level high-definition video camcorder. This unit uses a 120GB hard drive for storage. The HDR-XR150 can also store media files onto a media disk through a built-in media slot. Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick Pro-HG Duo and SD/SDHC/SDXC media types are supported.

HDR-XR150 records at 1920 x 1080 Full HD and takes 3 megapixel pictures. The camcorder allows for dual recording. This is a feature that allows users to take pictures while recording videos, thus avoiding the inconvenience of switching between the two different modes.

Face Detection and Smile Shutter technologies help users of the HDR-XR150 take quality videos and pictures. These technologies zero in on a subject's features, optimizing on the focus, color and exposure.

HDR-XR150 has a "Exmor R" CMOS sensor that facilitates in low light scenarios. The sensor captures more light that most camcorders and cameras, thus producing better videos and images.
